Void, sounds like something profound. It is the title of the latest effort by XCIII, the same as the atomic number for Neptunium – how about that? And the cover is quite excellent as well, there are many things about the appearance of this album that is really interesting, so what about the music?

Avant-garde hypnotic post rock it says as genre in the press text, and why not. It is something to that effect. It is an album with atmosphere, depth, artistry, I like the female voices that is heavily used to convey the lyrics of Void. It sounds like a fresh album and it happens to be XLIII minutes long, I mean while we are on the roman numerals anyway. From track I it is interesting; I like that opener that sets the tone for this album. The cover kind of explains what we are getting.

I think this album is great, but I doubt it is an album for everyone as it doesn’t instantly gratify with accessible hits and that kind of simplistic things. This albums tells a story, and it captivates the listener within this profound, grey, avant-gardist storytelling. It is a bit hypnotic, and it is dramatic. I enjoy this profoundly. The variation is great, and so are most of the songs with the opener iR as one favourite. Track VII Lunchbox has to be my absolute favourite of the album with apocalypses in the kitchen and cupboards, and such a brilliant atmosphere as well.

V of VII is my score for XCIII and Void, one of few backsides of this album is that the title; if I had named my band XCIII or any other roman numeral, I would have used titles that was a number as it would have appeared slightly more profound. Still, that is just me and the music is great, I recommend this one.
