roar
It is a ridiculously catchy album with many infectious choruses and simple melodic structures. The production is fresh and modern and distances the music slightly from the rock of the past that is a very obvious inspiration, and that is a good thing considering that they don’t really offer anything that can be described as fresh, original or novel. But the eight tracks of the album show a decent variation and with a sensible playing time and uplifting tone it is an album that should be very easy to like.
To do something quite generic and do it in a way that is really enjoyable to listen to, that is quite an impressive feat and probably something they will not be able to repeat. This offers nothing fresh and really interesting when it comes to style or creative viewpoints, but the songs are so ridiculously catchy and enjoyable that it blows most ctrl+c bands that arrive by the millions every day out of the water. You will realise immediately from the opening track Higher that this band is quite special, they push the right buttons and make pretty perfect songs that sticks in the mind and keeps repeating themselves in the head long after the album ends, and it is not like those crappy songs that can do that but it is a great feel that makes you want to hear the album again. The slight negative in that aspect is that the album opens a lot better than it ends, the quality is a bit lower towards the end.
This album shouldn’t be as good as it is, but the duo hits the mark perfectly and comes up with a very enjoyable album. I doubt it is an album for the scrolls of music history or anything but when you make music like this, poppy and catchy rock, I doubt that the plan will ever be to create an immortal album. The slight worry might be that if this is a demonstration of the musical path for this band it might be that they start on a high that they will never repeat as I doubt you can take the generic and make it great more than once or perhaps twice. Still, that doesn’t detract from the greatness of this album, I think Euphoria is a great album that might take you higher.
