They aren’t exactly original and I would say that the album almost feels repetitive the first time you hear it. It also sounds somewhat dated, like something from one of those named bands with guys whose hair is either grey or turning grey – it sounds old. I have heard better produced retrorockers than this one and the very long playing time can be an issue as the variation isn’t the largest I have heard on a hard rock album. Like the production this singer is pretty good but nothing really special, I guess you can describe it is a reasonable production and a retro rock album with little, if any, originality.
Original thinking is necessary if you intend to make music that makes an impact on the scene of music, if anyone else have already done it really well they will always be the benchmark that you cannot beat and what Stargazer does has been done better by many bands – and even if they did it well they lack the originality to make their music stand out. So who would like this album? There are probably some, who hadn’t yet had enough of hearing the same retro rock over and over, but I doubt it will be an album making much of an impact; it isn’t interesting enough for that.
If you like the bands mentioned in this review there is a decent chance that you will find this album quite agreeable, to me its biggest benefit is that it isn’t a bad album. That can however be said about many albums released and that isn’t enough to merit critical acclaim. I think they are quite far from reaching the sky, they probably end up in a ditch and sadly this album is just another one making up the numbers rather than actually making a contribution to make the world of music more interesting.
