Children of the Black Moon have awoken again after a long absence they released an EP last year and now they are releasing their first album in a decade. The album is called Follow-Through or Procession and that could actually be a good name as the first part of the album kind of feels like one of those. It ends really good but the blacker black metal tuff that precedes the final two tracks feel a little bit like one of those processions in expectation of something better.

The music is melodic black metal, and it has a Finnish style to it. You could compare it with many of the countrymen in the same genre. The ending is less black metal and more melodic the penultimate track with female vocals and the final one with clean male vocals. I also think that the production is strong and the album is quite varied as well so there will be no chance of losing interest, especially not with a great ending.

I like the album, all the tracks are good and likeable but I think the album has a small weakness in that the ends so good that the beginning feels like a procession or a transport stage towards that brilliant title track. But you know, even so, with a band doing great music, singing in Finnish – it can’t really go wrong with white harbours and procession so I recommend that you check it out and probably enjoy it.

Sure it will not appeal to all and I really wish they had done more tracks like the final ones on this album as that would have merited a higher rating. Now I just think we are unfortunately waiting 35 minutes for these two tracks, sure the waiting is good but you are really just waiting for these two standout tracks on an otherwise decent black metal album that becomes great for 14 minutes. So, it wouldn’t be a bad choice to visit these children for a while.
