Yellowcard from the United States bids farewell with their tenth album, which they have aptly named Yellowcard. They released the album a while ago and are currently performing their farewell tour. I think it is a great decision to disband when you feel the time is right in order to preserve the integrity of the band and its legacy – they seem to be rather wise these guys as they do have a musical style that is hard to reinvent for too many times and with twenty years and ten albums under their belts I think things risk becoming a bit routine and if there is anything an artist should avoid it is routine.

Yellowcard bring us easily accessible pop-rock music with catchy choruses and strong melodies on an album with decent variation and strong production. It is an album that is easy to take to and easy to like. A pretty good way to end in my view, sure there are things that could have been better – like the variation, and the inclusion of a spectacular hit song – it isn’t a spectacular end. But then again, these songs will probably be much enjoyed during the farewell tour; they seem to be nice songs to enjoy in view of a stage where the band plays.

It may not be spectacular but it is a good album, with good songs that I have enjoyed listening to. You take to the album immediately and I don’t think there will be many who can dislike the album, the fans should most certainly find it a very agreeable album. We could describe this self-titled album as an acceptable end for the band.

It is a straightforward, easy to like album with strong songs. Not much more needs to be said really, the album is good with some small niggles like the lack of a super hit song and it could have been more varied. But in the end I find that they end with the flag held pretty high and there is nothing more to write about that really, other than good luck in the future guys of Yellowcard.
