Human Zoo isn’t really a zoo I would like to visit, I’d much rather take a ride to the Andromeda Zoo that I wrote about earlier – humans aren’t the most interesting creatures in the world if I say so. As it happens though, it is also a German band that calls themself that. My Own god is the title of the fourth album by this band; the first one was released in 2006. This band has a decent logo but the cover art of this album isn’t that interesting. But let us now look at what we have inside this artwork.

Musically they are not that unique, think the Swiss kind of hardrock/metal and you have a fairly good idea of how it sounds. The interesting thing is how they use saxophone to spice up their songs, songs that show some okay variation over the tracks. The singer is fairly typical of the genre and the songs are catchy and fairly energetic, and the production is very good – it is an album with a very good sound. The album also shows a fair deal of depth and will show to be an album that you don’t grow tired of overly quick, I think it shows some longevity and is a very strong production.

Great album, that is the first thing to say about the album. The songs are mostly strong but there is one or two that are a bit bland and uninteresting, like the one called NSA. But besides a small number of weak tracks, the album is well worth listening to and I don’t think you need to be the Gotthard fan to really appreciate it, even though it probably helps if you are. It is a good solid effort, well worth listening to even though there is the slight argument that they do not differ that much from the genre in general but then there is the saxophone counter-argument to that. I think they are too good to really be downed by some poor track and a slight lack of originality.

When we look at what is great about this album we have a few great songs of which I think the opening one called One Direction probably stands as the greatest. A Day to Remember and Like a Bitch are two other tracks that stands out as solid tracks. And with that I think I’ll leave this very strong album with a recommendation, I suggest that you take a look at it, especially if you enjoy bands like Gotthard or Pink Cream 69.
