Then we get something way less exciting. It is traditional rock music with a strong musk of the nineties, no real surprises. Singer has a rather typical voice, kind of pop rock type of voice that can be heard in many popular bands. Not that impressive are the vocals if I am honest. I would say the same thing about the production that I consider rather average. And there are more things that can be considered less than impressive like the more than an hour-long playing time and the lack of variation.
And it all starts so great with the great track Mary-Ann, but then it is downhill from there and I find that in the end I am very relieved that it is finally over and I can listen to something I like. It is not that the album is terrible or anything it is just the sense that you are waiting for it to really take off but it never does. I think it is the lack of pace and energy that makes the album feel rather dull, I think that is the problem with this album – it lacks excitement.
I don’t that there is a particularly strong track other than the opening one Mary-Ann, but on the other hand that one is really strong. In the end I think that this album just isn’t that great and I would not really recommend that you consider it for this year’s Christmas gifts.
