Considered yourselves welcomed to the sick family, if you but this album. Not that the music on it is sick or anything like that, but that is the title so I guess it has to mean something in some way. It is the debut album of this Swedish quartet who considers themselves inspired by the eighties but who are also looking to make their own thing. I am not so sure that they really succeed to find their own voice on this debut album that makes you think of mental institutions when you look at it.

One might think that the music is mad in some way or another but it is quite conventional music, thrash metal meets heavy metal or something similar. Many times through the album I think it sounds like a slowed down, less powerful version of Metallica. The vocals are kind of thrashy, pretty decent but could use more variation – something I think Måns the vocalist should be capable of producing. And on the subject of producing, the production is pretty good although I think it could use a bit more punching power.

The songs have a decent variation through them; at least good enough to last for the time it takes to play the ten tracks that are on the album. More importantly, the tracks are all good and there are some really nice ones through this album, an album that I have to describe as good. It is an album that is easy to take to and to like, but I don’t think it is an album that makes much of a lasting impression. It is a good debut, a good album but it doesn’t quite have that little extra that separates the good from the great.

The nicer tracks I was alluding to in the earlier paragraph are mainly My Friend, which is a track I really like. Then I also think I should mention the opening and the ending tracks that are strong and easy to like. More than that is not really needed to write about this album, it is a good debut and they show lot of potential for the future.
