That it is about black metal, atmospheric black metal. Long sluggish riffs and darkish sound is what we get on this album. Screechy vocals and a rather monotonous sound is what we are getting on this album, an album of five tracks and just over forty minutes of music. Monotonous music, it really lacks depth and variation just rumbles along for little over forty minutes before ending in something of an anti-climax.
To be honest, it is not really that brilliant. It doesn’t really have much atmosphere and neither does it have the emotional depths that make an atmospheric black metal album great. Monotony done right can be great but this genre is a little bit of hit or miss and in the end I think this album is more of a miss than a hit. They shoot but doesn’t quite hit the target but there is nothing here that indicate these guys couldn’t hit the target next time around with something very similar but this thing just isn’t really that interesting.
It is quite difficult to say much about this album, I don’t like the vocals and I don’t think anything about it stands out it is unfortunately just another one of those really monotonous albums in the atmospheric black metal genre, fans of the genre may just find it as good as all the other albums they like but I doubt the rest of us will get any satisfaction from hearing such a drab tale from the stars – I thought paths on the astral plains were much more interesting than this, but I guess I was in error. Perhaps next time will be better.
