Alberto Rigoni seems to be a guy who likes the animated comedy series called Futurama, the title seems to indicate the same. That would seem to free the artist from being a suspect of being a fan of Futurama, don’t expect the Futurama title melody though. It is Rigoni’s fifth album under his own name; his first was released in 2008. This one features some good bassist guests; Rigoni who is a bassist himself plays all the instruments. I have to think that if the album is anywhere near as good as the artwork would indicate it will be a very strong album.

Musically it can be described as in the press sheet: Electro/Funk/Rock/Exper-imental, that is a pretty decent way to describe what to expect from this album. It is a predominantly instrumental album with much emphasis on the bassists, but there are some voices as well like the silly chorus in the opening track Bass Guy. Decent variation and everything, strong production and strong performances is the predominant thought when I listen through this album. Another good thing is that the playing time is kept short and to the point, something I always find good when it comes to instrumental album.

Not as entertaining as the cover would indicate, which in unfortunate. Still, it is a good album, I like it even though the first track is a bit silly and the album feels a bit on the long side towards the end of the album, despite the shortish playing time – maybe predominantly bass playing isn’t quite my forte. But despite some peaks and valleys I would call this album good, and interesting – especially interesting from a creative viewpoint in that it doesn’t sound like everything else and that is always a positive, but then it ends in a tired way and that is not as positive. Overall though I think that if you enjoy music that is a bit different, perhaps instrumental with much emphasis on the bass playing, you’ll find this album very agreeable.

The title track is great, to me that is the highlight of the album and had the rest of the album been of that calibre it would have been brilliant. Too bad it isn’t, the cover is great and the title track is great as well, maybe that is enough but whether or not that is true it is still an album well worth checking out.
