Punk rockers from Gothenburg, Sweden, Tear Them Down are back with a new EP. This time they are singing in their native Swedish tongue, it is said in the press letter that they are more personal, critical of society this time – and that they are said to have evolved that sound that have earned them good reviews and praise so far in their career. No gimmicks, no bullshit – just punk rock from the heart with a cover art that is an old map of their hometown Gothenburg. It is an EP that is being released both digitally and as a limited edition vinyl record.

Punk rock, plain and simple, no bullshit and no gimmicks, just energetic and furiously paced punk rock – good vocals and catchiness are to be heard through the four tracks on this EP. The lyrics sung in Swedish work well and as they are not really that important to the overall impression of the EP one can appreciate the music even without understanding what they sing. The songs are also short and the total playing time of this little EP is less than ten minutes so you are done with it really fast. It is decent variation for a punk rock album, but remember that punk rock isn’t really the genre that lends itself to big variations – with that said, the songs all have their distinct character.

I think that this is a rather good EP, love the energy and the emotion that they display. Sure, I would have liked to have a bit more mocking of politicians and such, then again that isn’t much of a deal unless you know Swedish. And I would rather have an album than an EP as there is more to hear, only four songs isn’t a substantial contribution especially not when it is music that is this direct. Still, the songs are good and I enjoy listening to them but maybe it ends a little bit fast – but you can always play it twice in a row or something like that.

Don’t think any of the songs stand out, they are all strong, powerful and direct – and enjoyable. Though as a critic I have to point out that I miss something fresh, something that feels exciting, that makes me really stop and take notice. Nevertheless, a punk rock fan will surely find this EP great, they usually enjoy this no-nonsense approach. It is an enjoyable EP but hardly one that will go down in history.
