A personal journey through the mental state of one who is left behind. It processes the emotions and questions he has to face after the suicide of a beloved person. That sounds like a morose feeling album, a deep philosophical adventure through the mind of he who is lost. A journey through the brain, these things are what keeps me going, the puzzles, the riddles and the thoughts. To me there is nothing more exciting than those philosophical arguments, but what about the music beneath that fascinating album cover? Does it live up to the promise that the press information indicates.

Well, that this German band is progressive will hardly come as a surprise to anyone who thinks, it is mainly that kind of bands that makes album on those kinds of things. It is not the super complex instrumental masturbation that sometimes plague this genre. It is kind of held back in many regards, it is flowing, calm, powerful, exciting, epic and melodic. It has depth meaning that it will last for a long time to those who find it interesting. It is an excellent production, sound is clean yet powerful as good as it generally is in this genre. This is a very strong production, and the conceptual epic feel comes through the eight songs and the 65 minutes of playing time is definitely not too long in this case.

This is a rather brilliant album, such an adventure, such drama, darkness, it has everything you could ever desire. I mean you cannot have enough darkness in your life, can you? Darkness kind of makes me happy, and this album is dark and philosophical enough to be enjoyable for many playthroughs. The variation on the album also makes for this longevity and this variation comes without destroying the coherency on this album, it is a like a story being told in eight exciting chapters. A highly recommended album.

I think the ending pair of songs are the brightest shining beacons of darkness, I really like those but at the same time it would be a shame not to say that rest of the album is quite brilliant as well. One of the greatest albums of the year, a strong piece of music and a strong debut. It is quite strange to think of this as a debut, there are not many debuts around that are better than this and remember it is only the beginning. Question is: the beginning of what? It might just be the beginning os something brilliant, the band seem to have what it takes to become something amazing. Lost is something that should not be lost on you, be sure to have a look at this brilliant album.
