Well, musically they do not really have any new ideas or answers. It is melodic rock/metal with catchiness, with some progressive parts, a singer that sounds like the singers in the genre usually does. We are not really overwhelmed by the innovative stuff they offer, have you heard any of the bands the members play in? congratulations, you kind of know how it sounds as it is not far from any of the bands you can mention in relation to respective band member. Still, the production is very good, sound is excellent really. Cool instrumentations, the performances are flawless so they do really show off some talent rather than ideas. 45 minutes playing time, it is shorter than much today but not really short enough. Although the playing time is long it isn’t that much of a problem.
The album is good, the songs are good and all of that. It has no real weak points either, it is a solid production. The thing is that when ”solid” is the word you first think of it also tends to mean that the album doesn’t excite very much. I think they play it a bit safe, stylistically a bit cautious and the album never really takes off. You could say that it doesn’t live up to the potential with the personell they have but also the musical promise they show. You could call it an unrealised reality, maybe in another version of reality they would do better, who knows? Not to say that it is poor or anything, it is just not that interesting in the longer run. A good one or two listens before you start getting a bit tired of some repetitious elements.
The opener along with Comes Crashing Down are the highlights of the album, slightly better than the rest of the album. Not that it makes a lot of difference because the album still feels too safe, too much middle of the road, it just doesn’t hold up to any deeper scrutiny. It is a safe bet, you will not be too disappointed no matter what you prefer. Then again, you will not be too exhilarated either. It is a good album, no more - no less.
