But let’s not care more about the disrespect from the band and instead focus on their album that I had listened to before realising that they didn’t really want to be noticed. The style is metalcore of a fairly typical variety with a growler that sounds typical of the genre and the same about the clean vocals. Catchy choruses, shouty verses, hardcore, metal and pop influences, like it usually is. No surprises in terms of style, Hollow Gloom has a standard production of a metalcore album, the typical variation of songs, and at least they have the sense to keep it relatively short as 38 minutes is more than what you want.
I am not impressed by what I hear. Sure, Hollow Gloom isn’t a bad album in any regard, the songs are fine and everything is fine. But generic stuff is so boring, and the world is already overflowing with mediocrity anyway so why should I bother with this? A question I keep asking myself, and the only reason why is that I take it upon me to review the albums I start listen to. Had I just checked this out for my own amusement I would have discarded it after two songs. Now I discard it after a dozen plays through the album, that is a lot more than anyone should have to endure.
Perhaps you might see it differently if you are a fan of the metalcore genre, but I am not even sure of that. This album is a relatively well put together album with songs that are as generic as your average superhero movie, it doesn’t evoke emotions and to be honest my mind tends to wander elsewhere when listening to stuff like this.
