Describing the music is taking to the AOR-description as that is where it mostly sits with catchy choruses, strong melodies, etcetera. The melodies are strong, the production is good, and I think the vocals are quite good as well. It should tick the right boxes for the AOR genre, and the variation is good for the genre as well. With twelve tracks it may be a little much, but not so much that I think it is detrimental to the album.
Of Poetry and Silent Mastery is a good album, it ticks the boxes and I enjoy listening to it. I think it should be appealing to those that enjoy the AOR style of music, it has good songs through and through, none of them are weaker. The opening Conspiracy along with the ending Fragile are my highlights of the twelve tracks we are getting. Then, like ever so often, you can make the valid point that we have heard all of this before, and we certainly have but Platens does it well and that is always a plus.
If you like the AOR kind of music this is a good choice for you, I think it should press the correct buttons for most that like the melodic style of the rock music. Platens gives us several good songs and with that comes a recommended album. Sure, the argument on the lack of originality can be made, but Platens gives us some great tracks and with those you can make do with less original ideas. Could be worth checking out!
