Today we take on the band Frontback and their third album, the second one promised much but delivered a lot less, so let’s see what this one has to offer. A poor artwork is probably the first thing you see; the previous album had that as well. Anlo Front’s vocals are also a similarity as we heard those before, at that time the press material claimed that she was the coolest vocalist in the world – I didn’t agree. I didn’t really read the press material this time, so I don’t know if they made such claims, but I do know that the band does a lot better this time – this album delivers a lot more than the previous album did, more of the promise is fulfilled so to speak.

The music is the same, catchy hard rock with lots of energy and pretty good and charismatic female vocals. A bit rough-edged production which is a nice touch and it gives them a fresher kind of sound than many other bands that swim around in the mainstream of the genre. It is simple and easy to like, the variation could be more towards the diverse end than it is but it is not a big issue as the album is short enough to avoid feeling too long or repetitive so it is more difficult to grow tired with it than it was with the previous album.

They offer a massive step forward compared with when I last reviewed them, the songs and the sound, as well as the vocals, is all better. This album is really good, and while it has some songs that aren’t brilliant the overall impression is very positive. I especially like how they end with the strongest song, leave the listener wanting some more, a nice change from all those albums that ends up leaving the listener wanting less.

It is almost like it is another band we are listening to now, compared with what they did a few years before. This album can certainly work for a wide variety of rock and metal fans, most who hear it will like it. It may not be very original but it feels fresh and that is usually enough to really work well and stand out amongst the faceless multitude of bands that release albums nowadays. This one is a recommended one, notice that I didn’t mention the title once. Good stuff for the sunnier days that is coming now that the winter is ending, you would do well to check it out.
