Who do you trust? The reviewer who fails to be impressed or the press material speaking of positive things about the album? It is the tenth album by these guys who has been very successful with millions of albums sold and high-charting singles and that sort of thing. So they certainly have the pedigree and were a fresh force in the alternative rock genre but the question is how relevant they are today with this new album, and my answer is not really that relevant.

Musically it is rock with rap, alternative rock, hard rock, that sort of thing I guess. The one who knows Papa Roach from their earlier works will recognise the sound, I don’t think that they offer anything we haven’t heard before. And the album isn’t really that varied or has much depth I think. Solid production but I think it feels like it is an album on routine, feels like a bit like they are missing the fresh ideas and just makes an album without really thinking, or without quality control. We liked them the last time we reviewed them, not so much this time.

In fact, there is nothing I really like about this album, the songs are from terrible to lame and boring, the album itself feels like it lacks ideas, and the band feels like they don’t really want to make a great album but rather just make another album. I wouldn’t say that it is awful or vomit-worthy but it isn’t good and I don’t really get much out of listening to this album. And I am not sure that it will be an album that will have much appeal for anyone really, perhaps for some of the more die-hard fans but not for the rest of us.

They have done better stuff and I am not even sure that the band will look back at this album with positive feelings a few years from now. I guess we can conclude by claiming that it is a tired creation that Papa Roach has put together.

HHHHHHH
