Easiest way to discern that is probably to first look at the style of music that, as I alluded to in the first paragraph, can be described as melodic heavy rock/metal. Its of a catchy nature, some uptempo songs, some slower songs, and all in between, kind of like it usually is with albums of this genre. I can’t really claim that they are offering anything new and exciting, the variation is as expected and makes the playing time seem sensible. I think the album could have done away with the ending track that is a piano version of the fifth track Ocean, it doesn’t really add anything of value and makes the album feel longer.
Really strong vocals and production are also plus points for this album, just as great tracks like Silence and Dreams and previously mentioned Ocean. On the negative side I think this album feels a bit too generic to stand out and be thought of when one is looking back at the music year of 2018 a few years from now. A few of the songs are a little bit uninteresting but I don’t think any potential buyer will be too disappointed as it is an easy-assessable album with good music that is instantly rewarding to listen to. But while it is easy to like, it is also a little bit easy to forget and in the end I think that the most positive thing about the album is the song Silence and Dreams and that it is a very solid debut.
Zeal for the rock music is what these guys are showing, but to really make an impression you need some zany things as well. If you enjoy the melodic hardrock you will probably enjoy this album as well, it has some excellent songs to enjoy for anyone but in the end it is probably an album that will be forgotten, as it is probably a bit too generic to really make an impression. It may not be magic or wondrous but it is a good album.
