Mongolia isn’t really the first, or second, or even third nation I would connect with metal music, but there is this band called Tengger Cavalry that does some very exciting metal music. They have been doing it since 2010 and have released plenty of stuff since then, even done a number (two) of headline tours before this new album that is called Die on My Ride. Of course they have been noticed and praised by some large media channels and one of the most important is of course this one (or not) and this is what I think for this media channel.

It is folk metal with lots of Mongolian folk metal influences, those run very clear throughout the album. The songs have depth and variation, the production is very strong and I would describe it as a high quality production. The vocals is a bit of a weak point, I don’t like the talking kind of half-grunty vocals that they use, clearer vocals would clearly have been better. Still, this is a small moot point as I overall still think that the vocals work, perhaps they should just have been a bit more varied. Perhaps that is something for the now New York based Nature G who is the creative force behind the band to think about.

We get around 40 minutes of music on about a dozen tracks, so it is short and sweet. To the point, fresh and quite original – I think this band offer up something that isn’t very common in today’s musical landscape. They make something that feels fresh and that feels like something from the army of the sky god, isn’t that great? Well, I can recommend it, so at least it is that great. And they should have kudos for making something fresh and interesting, and on top of that they make it really good.

You should have a look at this album, it is great and it is interesting. Through the album all the songs are really strong, it makes for a very enjoyable album. It is certainly well worth checking out, and I think Tengger Cavalry has put together a very strong and very likeable album. Hat’s off for these guys, you should check them out!
