Musically it is melodic death metal/thrash metal with some female vocals, some growls, strong melodies and an epic touch. The female vocals are very good, I like them a lot, the male vocals are a bit ordinary but together with female vocals they get a rather dynamic sound that tells the story very well. And the album has a decent variation throughout and that paired with much depth makes it interesting from the start to the end 47 minutes later. The finishing track is a known one first recorded by a Swedish band called In Flames and it is a decent ending even though I would not describe it as one of the best tracks on this album.
It is an album that I really like; it has great songs and strong melodies. It is an album telling a dark story in an uplifting way, I find this post-apocalyptical world where man fights for scraps very appealing – that is at least how I interpret what I am hearing when I am listening to this album that in my view lacks any major flaws. It is just a really exciting album and a great musical story told by a very interesting band. And the fact that it feels fresher and more exciting than most of the stuff released in this genre and in the world of music overall, it would actually be great to wake up to a new dawn where some albums aren’t just flawed copies of other albums.
This is a very listenable album with great tracks where the title track is the highlight but where all the tracks are really good and the scenario they tell is great as well. It is therefore a highly recommended album that you should check out, especially if you enjoy melodic death metal. It is great and I can honestly say that I wasn’t expecting that scenario when I begun the task of forming a review of this album – it is great.
