They say in the short introduction that came with the download of this one that they have a more Nordic sound with this album while still being that symphonic and cinematic sound that they have made themselves a name doing. Melodic rock music, female fronted is what it is, the songs have a cinematic feel to them and the sound is as powerful as it is melodic. I think the vocals fits perfectly to the sound and it is actually pretty difficult to think of many albums where the vocals have been a better match.
And the production is excellent, the soundscapes are just great and the songs are varied enough to keep the album interested for the entire hour it plays. It is a quality album with strength all the way through, and I would describe this as a really strong album on all accounts. I don’t think it has any major flaws as all the songs are good and the album is fairly dynamic and it has some strong highlights. I think though that it could have been more dynamic had it been somewhat shorter, perhaps if they ended on the brilliant track Go On that is my favourite of the album they would have accomplished that dynamic feel that the best albums have.
But then I have to go on and point out that this album still lands pretty close to six points, a rating only four album received last year, it is only that slight lack of dynamics that stops it from reaching those heights but it will still be a competitor for the top ten list of this year. Opening Sleeping Giant and Cry Wolf are besides Go On tracks that stand out for me.
I think they hit the mark really well with this album, it could have been somewhat shorter but that doesn’t affect the end result very much. It is an album that I think is well worth taking a closer look at, and with that I don’t mean just to look at the great artwork. Then when you do look at it I know you will not be disappointed because it is a great album.
