Danish death metaller Kforkill have been lurking in the Copenhagen underground for some years but have decided that it is time to finally come out of hiding with the release of their first album. An album claiming that the world is broken, and while there are indications pointing towards that there are also indications to the contrary. Before claiming that the world was broken they released an EP some years back and now they are coming back with gut-wrenching death metal for their first album.

It is modern death metal with gut-wrenching power and a hard hitting, tempo filled soundscape. Guttural and brutal vocals that put the listener in place, I would describe them as good. They are hard as granite but they are also as original as granite, fans of modern and heavy death metal will like it as it sounds as it usually does. And it sounds as usual on eleven tracks and 47 minutes of music.

It isn’t the most original and the most good album I have ever heard in this genre, but it is also far from the opposite. I would call it a good album with strong tracks but especially a good and powerful sound that sort of makes you dream of some stronger hit songs. It should need a strong focal point and I also think that this album would have benefitted from a band that walked some paths other than the ones most walked by the bands of this genre. They have the power and energy; they just lack some of the originality even though they are pretty good.

Fans of the genre will like this album even though, it is a good debut, but I doubt that many of them will think of it as their absolute favourite. It is an album that will probably move them from the Danish underground but I don’t imagine they will reach huge fame, as it is not really original enough to really stand out.
