Jim Jidhed, known for singing with the band Alien is back with his sixth solo album. I reviewed that latest Alien album and I found that to be a good album. This new album by Jidhed is similar to that Alien album, not having listened to it since the review I get the sense that it is more or less the same but with other song titles and lyrics. And when researching this album on the web I found a review claiming that Jim Jidhed is a top-five singer of all, I would say that he is very average for a melodic rock singer. But the vocal quality is just one of the aspects of an album, it is the song writing and the songs themselves that really matters.

And this is typical AOR, made to format with melodic rock songs having catchy choruses and love-themed songs – kind of like it usually is. Excellent production, the sound is great and the choruses usually work to make this an easily accessible album. Fans of AOR will probably find this a very agreeable album, which is what I do. It I agreeable with the variation of songs I have come to expect from most AOR and there are no surprises here, it even have a common number of tracks and plays for little under 50 minutes which most AOR albums does these days, so why should you get this album?

Because it is a good album, I think that it is good and enjoyable to listen to. But so is hundreds of albums that I have reviewed in this genre and compared with them this album has nothing that makes it stand out – Jidhed does not have an excellent voice, there is no outstanding hit song on the album and there really isn’t anything that grabs my attention. Opening track Glorious is really good, as is the fourth track Waiting for Summer but in the end this month has already offered a better AOR album in the latest Pride of Lions album that kicks the ass of Jidhed’s new offering.

Even though this album is good, I don’t really see much point in getting it, as there are so many more interesting albums out there and so many more albums that are quite equal to this one. Nevertheless, you will probably not be disappointed if you buy the album that I will already have forgotten all about when it is available for you to buy.
