It is melodic/power metal, built around catchy choruses and strong melodies. Great production, I would say a high quality production with great sound. Not much in terms of variation and a dozen songs with an hour of playing time is on the long side I think. On the plus side there are the catchy choruses and the decent vocals that negates some of that long playing time. But it is not a very exciting album from a creative standpoint, they press the right buttons for the genre and they don’t exactly come up with anything new.
Not exactly new or fresh but it is good and catchy and easy to like, fans of the power or melodic metal will enjoy as it is catchy and silly enough to easily like. But as easy it is to like, as easy is it to grow tired with it pretty quickly. In the end I find myself happy to put this album away as I hade quite enough of it after listening to it seven or eight times. I might be a bit tired of it but there is no denying that it is a good album with a dozen good songs where none of them stand out.
In the end I can conclude that this is an album well worth checking out for those of you who like some melodic and catchy choruses but perhaps not the most exciting ferry ride. I think The Ferrymen’s new album is good, good but a little bit unoriginal and the risk is that they will drown in the mainstream waters of this genre.
