So, what is this Dante’s theory? Is it something profound like the well-known theory of gravity or the theory of relativity? No, it isn’t – it is a Singaporean band and they have recently given us their new EP that is called Amut. Singapore isn’t really the place I first think of when thinking about metal music but there are some bands from thee and these guys are certainly interesting.

They use both the English and Malay language to set words to their songs, a fresh and interesting way to increase the dynamics of an album. It is an EP with a short playing time, just fourteen minutes divided into five tracks. They have a rather fresh sound with good groove and much energy, and it has a great production – I think this is a band with lots to offer. The EP might just be a bit on the short side as it kind of stops before it really starts, I would think that an album of about 30 minutes would have been a wiser way to release their strong music.

I think these guys are worth checking out; their music is strong and interesting. The five tracks show decent variation but isn’t really enough to grab the attention of the listener. The lack of a really distinct hit song might also add to this sensation of the EP not quite grabbing me, stopping me in my stride to make me take notice of what I am hearing. Now all we can hope for is that they release an album, but until then I think it could be nice to enjoy this EP for a while.

Thumbs up for Dante’s Theory, they have a lot to offer, good strong death metal with lots of energy, groove and power. I think that Dante’s Theory is a name well worth committing to memory; I think they have much to offer and this EP is well worth checking out if you want to get to know these guys. Good stuff.
