The music is smattering drums, abuse of string instruments and hellish growling. Quite dark and heavy and perhaps a bit more varied than much of this genre, bit exciting it is not despite a part with soprano vocals and some semi-progressive tunes. It is heavy and dark, pretty powerful but also rather bland and pretty boring. The sounds could certainly have been better, I would not call the production good – there is not really much on this album that will excite. I think the genre name would be death core or something like that.
I don’t like this one, and I am quite certain that most who read what I write will agree with what I write here. It feels like an album that is only targeting the very small crowd who enjoy the ear torture that these guys are offering. They do have some redeeming features as I alluded to, but that is nowhere near enough to make this album even remotely listenable.
Sure it is a tad mean to say bad things about the band who are probably giving their soul and everything in their music. But when you make music for a narrow audience, you have to expect some poorer reviews from more mainstream oriented writers, like myself. This album probably works for the initiated while the rest of us would probably rather flush it down the toilet than listening to it.
