Thrash metal isn’t really a genre known for its inventive bands that break convention and come up with fresh ideas, Spanish quartet Violblast is one of those bands – those thrash metal bands that is fresh out of ideas. Probably very impressed with Bay Area heroes like Slayer and what-have-you, these guys make their own versions of their music. And why not? If that is their dream it is probably a great thing for them to do, and they will have fans for their music as the world is full of people clinging on to dreams of better times long lost.

I must say that this album had me somewhat conflicted in regards to the rating for this album, it is not like it is a poor album or anything so it may seem unfair to give it a three. But three is for an album that is okay but offers nothing of consequence, kind of like this one does, it sounds just like thrash of the eighties, even the production seems to be of that time and it wouldn’t exactly be bad for them if they had a fresher and more modern sound.

A hit song would also have been beneficial, now I think that the first few seconds is the highlight of this album. Thrash fans will most likely disagree with me and so will all those imagining that things were better in the past, but the fact is that no matter how well these guys shred their guitars and what have you, their music could still be described as something of a riff-off.

Yeah, I would describe this as a pretty okay thrash metal album, the problem for them is that the world of music is full of decent albums and you need more than that to stand out. I would say that this quartet need to find something more of their own if they want to make music that feels more relevant in this very competitive world of music.
