The Canadian Veer Union celebrates a decade of adversity with their fourth album, that they simply call Decade. It contains ten songs, five of which were written before the debut that was released a decade ago in 2006 and five newly written songs. The press text otherwise speaks of Crispin Earl the singer who battles depression while still managing to create his music, and actually deals with that subject in the album’s opening track. The album also has a pretty cool and timely artwork that nicely illustrates the album’s name.

Musically we deal with modern hardrock/metal/pop rock, some describe it as post grunge. It is modern rock music with a vocalist that reminds me much about how the singers usually sound in modern American rock bands. The songs are quite catchy and fairly easily accessible and with a strong production and energy, I think this is an album that can appeal to a fairly wide audience. And they keep it short and dynamic where the ten tracks plays for less than 40 minutes. It is a solid modern production that has the potential to appeal to a fairly wide audience.

I think this is a great album, catchy songs and great energy. I like this album and I think that there isn’t anything to really complain about. You could however point out that they are not exactly the most unique band out there but they do have some traits of personality that makes them relevant in an ever more saturated music scene. I think they are really good and I can clearly recommend these guys to those of you reading this review as I think that most of you will find it quite appealing.

All the songs are really good but there are two tracks that feels like stronger hits, hits that would do really well on the radio or something like that. Those are the opening track Defying Gravity and the ending track Underrated, they are great hit songs and I really like them. And in the end I think that the only logical conclusion to make about this album is that it is a great album and you should really have a look at it, or you might miss something.
