Particles are storming out of Italy in a powerful looking debut effort, self-titled and quite and with a nice artwork. Storm of Particles is the band we talk about and they were formed in 2015, they are a quartet and this is the first chance we get to know them as a recording band. This effort is an EP or a demo with five tracks and it is described as melodic death metal.

And melodic death metal is what it is about, atmospheric such with much emphasis on strong melodies. Good production and a fairly standard vocalist is what they show on this release, but I think you can say that they sound quite mature and that they show some interesting potential. Just five tracks here and twenty minutes, decent variation through this but it may be a little short to really make a mark. In many regards their music is quite typical of the genre but there are some minor fresh touches that, even though it doesn’t stand out that much, makes these guys interesting.

I like this EP; it has strong melodies and great sound. They show that they have great potential and that they are capable of delivering strong music, the songs are all good but in the end I think the album is a little bit too ordinary to really stand out amongst everything else that exist in the genre today. Nevertheless, it is a good release and what it does the most is making you aware of this band, and if they build on the foundation they have laid with this EP they will be capable of making something very interesting in the near future.

This first effort by Storm of Particles is definitely good, a great first effort and maybe we can look at it as a teaser for what will come. I believe that if they continue on this path they will probably make something very interesting in the future, but until then it might be worth giving 20 minutes to this little EP.
