Saddiscore is an odd name for a band in the heavy metal genre, I was expecting something more extreme or dark but this isn’t very dark or extreme. The Germans see demons of Earth everywhere and seem to be joining everyone else in a negative outlook on the world. They feel a storm is coming when they start their debut album and then we have ghosts, demons, blame and mental warfare – maybe some refreshing darkness.

They offer heavy metal built on a classical heavy metal foundation but with some modern touches, I think the sound is quite raw and energetic. They offer quite a lot of power and energy although the sound could be somewhat better, and maybe the vocalist could have been a bit better. Though I should not complain, I think the album is rather good and one who buys it probably won’t be disappointed.

I think that Saddiscore offer us a good debut, a solid heavy metal album that offers a decent variety of songs with some really strong ones. I think the Germans do well with this album even though there are one or two things that detract slightly from them being great. And it is a lot better than anything I could have expected from a band with that name because in metal you can usually judge a book by its title and cover, but Saddiscore surprises a little bit and that is always a good thing.

Demons of the Earth is a good debut album and it promises a lot, even though it might not deliver fully on that promise. Perhaps we should wait for the next album but until then one can always play this one, and especially A Storm is Coming, a few more times. These are demons that you don’t really need to worry about, good demons.
