I would say yes to that last question, it is instrumental music with drive. It kind of tells a story where the songs are like chapters each with their individual and different part of the whole. The melodies and variations are very strong; they have depth and showcase some brilliant musicianship. I think the album has a great sound, great production, and thanks to a short playing time it is an album you want to play again once it ends – that is always a mark of a strong album.
Sometimes, or rather many times, I think instrumental music is lacking something, something that is often filled by a vocalist. This album doesn’t suffer that problem, the songs have a drive that keeps you listening and you make up the words to the story yourself. And for me that story turns out rather good and exciting, I really like it. I would claim that Plini is a name to remember; I would not be surprised if we get more stuff of a very high calibre from this guy.
Handmade Cities could be a place to look for residence but if you’re not I would claim that this is one of the most interesting album of this year. With all seven tracks being really great it is easy to like this album and I would write that it comes highly recommended, at least by me so my suggestion is that you should have a closer look at this great album. Handmade cities is handmade music at its best.
