Uninvited memories to form an album, how’s that for one less reason? Cris Brown and his merry men are back, completing half-dozen albums where the first was released in 2005 and the catalogue contains a gold record in when they in 2012 had accumulated enough sales for their first album. The press sheet says that every riff, chorus, solo and everything has a memory behind it – and that it is heavier lyrically than it is musically, it is all based around the classic quartet of four-letter words: love, hate, pain and hope. It all sounds very interesting if I read it all aloud.

Good stuff, is what I thought when I first heard this album – and when I last heard it. It is a brilliant production with great vocals, strong choruses, strong melodies, good riffs, and a decent variation over eleven tracks and 43 minutes of playing time. Good stuff. It is an album that is easy to take to, easy to like with powerful lyrics and many strong points and it is definitely one that you should have a look at if you like the modern form of hardrock/metal.

The one weakness I see is that it is somewhat lacking in tempo and energy, none of the songs can be described as really up-tempo and that is much missed in my opinion. They could also use a bit more power and energy through the songs, this is a problem that could be the reason to why this album doesn’t really stand out in the stream of albums that keeps filling up the music business. They are certainly good and as certainly above average but not good enough to really make a strong impression on someone who listens carefully to hundreds of albums every year.

One Less Reason does really well with their sixth album, it is good and probably won’t disappoint with strong tracks like Where Were You and On the Way Down. They impress with their solid handiwork but I would have really liked an album that felt less engineered and more like a work of art not drawn by an architect, maybe they should have felt the emotions rather than explain them on paper. I like this album but I doubt I will return to it now that I have written this review.
