Atmospheric black metal – that is what you will hear on this album. Dark, slow, monotonous; with raspy vocals and not much variation over four long tracks – kind of like it usually sounds when you listen to this genre, nothing surprising in regards to how it sounds. Four tracks and almost fifty minutes is what you get and as I stated just before, there is not anything in terms of variation – the whole slew of songs sounds more or less the same.
So how did I get along with this album then? To be honest, I was bored. The album has nothing that stands out and nothing that feeds my curiosity or my interest. Most ordinary for an album in a genre that I don’t really like to begin with, but fans of the genre should probably look at it anyway as they might find it appealing even though I doubt that even they can be that exciting over another album that sounds just the same as the previous ten they picked up. Nah, this is a rather dreary piece of work, not that impressive handiwork either, it just begins and then it ends and nothing has been accomplished.
It is neither good, nor bad if I am honest but I am still bored out of my skull and being objective it is hard to see that this could be anything but a rather ordinary atmospheric black metal album. The old forest doesn’t seem to be offering many exciting experiences and perhaps it is just an album that is best lost somewhere in an old forest.
