Swedish quintet Dynazty is back with a new album, a Titanic Mass of an album if we are to believe its title. It seems it is a titanic mass on the heart, at least judging by the cover art. According to the label they have titanic arrangements, the question of course is whether or not it is a titan of an album. The potential is certainly there considering how good the predecessor Renatus was, so before taking on this album my hope was that it could be as good as Renatus.

It is probably a little step up on Renatus in terms of production with a little better sound and power, stylewise it is the same catchy melodic hardrock/metal as we heard on the previous album. The album is built around much focus on strong choruses and memorable hooks, an album that is quite easy to take to as it is simple enough and has decent enough variation to remain interesting for the duration of the album and several playthroughs. We get 46 minutes of music and eleven tracks on the album, most likely you will want to make it 92 minutes after your first time playing the album.

It is a great album; I have really enjoyed playing through it several times now and cannot really see any weaknesses. Some would probably say that it is too commercial or something like it, but what is wrong with that? It works. It is an enjoyable album that I can recommend to anyone who likes rock music; it is well crafted with strong songs and great performances as well as a great production. I think these guys would go well on many popular radio stations; their music is certainly good enough to deserve plenty of attention.

I stated that the songs were really good all the way through but I think that the opening pair is the highlight of the album, not that the following nine tracks are weak or anything but these are the highlights in a great album. I think you should all check out this album as it will be well worth the time and effort, Dynazty is certainly a name to remember.
