Danes that are earning black money, a quartet who are said to be badass and unique according to the press sheet – that sounds fascinating, unique and badass isn’t that how you make great rock’n’roll? These tax evaders are releasing their debut album with this one that they call noise pollution, so they are not paying their taxes and polluting noise – how much more badass can you be? But then again, their name might just be down to the fact that so many names are already taken. They have of course recorded the album in a legendary studio with a producer that has many names on his CV, so they know how to talk the talk but can they really deliver on the promise of the unique and badass?

Musically this is hardrock, it has a flair of stoner rock, of grunge and those sort of thing, modern hard rock music plain and simple. The singer hasn’t the loveliest of voices but he has authority and power in his voice. The band offers energetic modern rock music with a sense of flair but there isn’t really anything unique about the album or the band’s sound that I can hear. The production is modern and solid and I think that we can conclude that it is a solid production. But with a playing time about an hour long it feels a bit on the long side and it feels as though they should have kept it a little bit shorter but fans of the genre will probably find the playing time agreeable.

I think it is a fairly good offering, but maybe nothing that really shines in comparison with many other bands out there. I like the energy and feel this band show us but at the same time it is a limited thing as I don’t really think they have what it takes to really stand out amongst so many bands out there. They do what they do well and I think they seem to be a very capable band but they are hardly unique and they are not as badass as suggested. Though they could probably do well as I believe their music can fit the tastes of a wide audience although not many of them will probably describe Black Income as their favourite band, the polluting ways does however work pretty well.

My Favorite Gasoline along with the title track can be described as the highlights of this album, not that they are distinctly different from the rest of the tracks but they stand out a little to me and that makes them slightly better. Overall an album that fans of modern rock music should have a look at and that probably could appeal to other audiences but it is not very unique and I kind of feel like I have heard it before. It is an hour of pretty good entertainment though.
