Very expensive babies, only affordable to the very rich is one possible explanation to the name of this band from Falun, Sweden. Their new album is called Chemical God and it features a cover that isn’t exactly rocking very hard. But never judge anything by its cover, which is a good saying as at times it is true. This band is said to have a well-earned reputation as one of Sweden’s most entertaining and explosive live acts, as reputations I know nothing about so I will not make any say about it. I know that the label Metalville that this band makes their debut for with this album usually releases quality album, although rarely something fantastic but always good quality stuff, so lets see about these guys.

They are said to be inspired by big spectacle US rockers like Kiss, Alice Cooper, W.A.S.P, Marilyn Manson etc. and that isn’t such a bad comparison in my opinion. Musically it is large hardrock music, simple and to the point with no real deviation from very established paths. Well, the ending track is a bit different with a carnival type style and so on but other than that it is straight to the point. Strong choruses and solid melodies, good production, I don’t see much to point finger at, other than the fact that they aren’t exactly the most original band I have ever heard in my life. Decent variation over eleven tracks, slightly long album perhaps but overall a good production.

And it is a very good, even great album. If you like any of the before mentioned bands I am sure you will find this a very pleasing album, it is definitely among the best I have heard in the genre. But I think that it might appeal to a rather wide audience as it is good enough and inoffensive enough to really go very far and become a very successful album. It comes very recommended on my part, slight reservation maybe for the slightly long playing time and the lack of originality.

All of the songs are very strong but the natural standout track is the ending track House of Dreams as it is different and it is very good. Then I think the title track is quite strong and rather fascinating, the best hit potential is probably in the fifth track Why Don’t You Put up a Fight that is a really catchy track and rather enjoyable. So, all in all I find this album very agreeable, it is a great album that I can very much recommend.
