The German light character is returning with the album that was promised when their debut EP was released, an album that I wrote would appear to have potential to be really good. The cover looks kind of the same as the one on the EP and all the three tracks of the EP are all present and accounted for on this EP. They did have some chart success with the EP as well so there would appear that there are possibilities for success for this album. So what about it? Do they build from the foundation of the EP into a good album?

They sing in German which is evident from the list of songs, not only that as they use many synths in their album which gives a fairly distinct sound. If you have heard bands like Lacrimosa, Letzte Instanz and Nachtgeschrei then you’ll have a good frame of reference for how it sounds. The sound is interesting, very melodic and the singer suits the songs very well, the songs goes mostly in the midtempo range – I think that we can call this a high quality production. Not too much variation over a dozen tracks but I think it may be enough to keep the fan interested for the entire playing time that reaches a little bit over 50 minutes.

Maybe not the most unique album I have ever heard, one can argue that they are not very novel in their approach but their approach has at least not yet been done to death over and over again like many other things in the musical world. And when listening to it you don’t really think of this slight lack of novelty as the album is very good with a dozen really good songs that will entertain the listener for quite a while. It is an album that I think works for its entire playing time and I can actually play it a few times in a row without hating it which is quite unusual for albums I get to review. And I also think that singing in German is a good thing that makes them stand out slightly from the big mainstream that uses the English language – just like we do.

A few songs stand out somewhat from the rest, the opener Entfessele den Sturm that opens the album and the title track – these were both heard on the EP from last year and they are excellent songs. Energie is another highlight that is close to the end of the album and that is probably one of the reasons for the album working for the entire playing time while still being a tad on the long side. I think that we can conclude that if you are a fan of German lyrics and melodic rock music it is a given purchase.
