All crumbles down for Faceshift on their second album, an album that features a fiddler on a rock on the cover. It certainly looks like an exciting album and it comes with some endorsements from skilled musicians from relatively famous metal bands like Kamelot or Symphony X, though I have to say that such words don’t really make me more positive towards an album, if anything it is the opposite. The band hiding behind the Faceshift moniker is Swedish and they are said to be a very diverse and this second album of their career was recorded in less than two weeks. Less than two weeks, which would seem a bit rushed, can one really finish an album in that small amount of time? Of course it was only the recording, as the press sheet says nothing about how long it took them to write the songs or all those other things.

Musically it is not an easy album to place in a box with a single label, it is diverse. It ranges between heavy metal, a bit of stoner, grunge, modern metal and some other stuff as well. Quite heavy and yet quite melodic, the singer didn’t quite appeal to me the first time I listened to the album but after a while I came to appreciate the quality of this singer and think he fits the bill very well. The sound and production is good, and it is varied, catchy and the playing time of fifty minutes should be very bearable for many people. I would say that it is a very solid production and despite being recorded in less than two weeks it doesn’t feel like a rushed album.

I like this album, the band gives us a great piece of work with this album and I think the fans can accept the long wait since the last album when they offer an album as good as this. I don’t think there are any major weaknesses in this album, it is diverse but still coherent and it works really well and I think it may be appealing to most people who enjoy metallic music. So it is definitely one of those albums that I can recommend that you give a chance as you might just find it a very appealing album.

All the songs on the album are very strong and none of them stand out particularly much, one track does however appeal slightly more than the other to me – very slightly. That track is Awaken and it is a track that I find somewhat more appealing than the other ten tracks on the album, but there isn’t much in it. Solid, strong, catchy, heavy and interesting, a recommended album that I doubt that any of our readers will dislike, therefore my ending statement is that you should have a look at this album.
