It is more of a western sound than something from the netherworld; it is more cowboy than darkness and more Sergio Leone than whatever the famous filmmakers of evil movies names are. We even get to hear some of Ennio Morricone’s iconic soundtrack. In the opening track Gunslinger we are transported to the sandy streets of the western towns, I almost half expected Clint Eastwood to be heard somewhere as well. Heavy metal is the musical term of it with Peck’s charismatic high-pitched vocal style. Excellent production and the sound is really good. The album is varied enough to keep the listener interested and I was actually a little bit surprised when I noticed that the album was an hour long, it felt a lot shorter than that.
The sound is excellent, and the songs are great – this of course means that this is a great album and I really like it. The western style is great, entertaining and it makes the album very enjoyable. The solo borrowing the theme from Morricone’s iconic The Good, The Bad and The Ugly soundtrack in the opening track is a great addition to this album. I think fans of heavy metal will really enjoy this very strong and entertaining album, I think most who hear the album will.
The best tracks on the album are the opening track Gunslinger and the track called Way of the Gun; these are the highlights on this very enjoyable album. No track stands out in the other direction, I would say that this album is without any major weakness and Peck sings the best I have heard him sing on an album here. So if you like bands like Cage and their likes is appealing to you, you will find this album a real treat. I would say that even me who hates guns finds this gunslinger stories quite appealing, so check it out and enjoy it.
