The press release state that it is noise rock and such things, what I can state is that it is moody, dark and gloomy. The music is slow and slightly monotonous with a very good vocalist for the job, I think the style is well crowned by this very good vocalist. The sound is also very good, painting a dark and dramatic landscape throughout the five tracks that make up this album. It takes about 25 minutes to run through the entire album, the variation isn’t the greatest I have ever seen in a music album – it is nowhere near that. One could argue that it can be a tad monotonous if playing more frequently but I would describe it as a well-made mini album.
It is a pretty good album; I like it as it is very strong and solid. I think however that it lacks a little bit of depth and dynamics and tends to become a little bit monotonous in the longer run. The short playing time might contribute to this feeling, both that the band didn’t make the album more varied and that when played repeatedly you hear the same stuff over and over which become repetitive and monotonous. In the end though I think that fans of this kind of music will enjoy what they hear but I can of course not be sure about that as I find it somewhat lacking.
Five tracks on this mini album, all of them are pretty good, none of them is amazing. I can describe it as a solid effort that I like but I would like to see an album from these guys and that would have to be an album that is a bit more dynamic and a bit more varied than this short album. In the end I think that the only conclusion there is to draw from this mini album is that this Danish quartet has a lot to offer and this first effort of theirs is strong but lack that little extra.
