Same kind of gothic metal that we have heard before from these guys, female vocals lead and male growls spice up the show. I don’t think the female vocals are as good as they were on the latest album, Ada is a good vocalist but I think Maike fitted into the sound and brought life into the songs in a way that Ada doesn’t quite manage to do. Decent variation over ten tracks and near fifty minutes of playing time. The production is good enough for what it is, but maybe not quite as good as it was on the previous albums.
I would describe this as a solid album, decent energy and an overall good feel to it. But I would still say that considering what the band did with their two earlier albums it is a bit of a disappointment, it is one of those good albums that never really takes off. I don’t think that is due to the change in vocalist but more down do the songs not being as good as on the previous albums and the lack of a strong hit song. There isn’t any obvious focal point on the album, nothing to really draw you into it and the album just fly by with good songs that doesn’t quite catch your attention.
21 Heroes is the best track on the album, an impressive catchy track that stands out a little bit. However, it is not the focal point that this album needs. Well, it needs some more stuff than that, it just isn’t as good as I know these guys can be. There isn’t really that much more to be said about this album, it is a good album but considering the fact that it feels like it isn’t as good as it could have been. That makes this good album a bit of a disappointment. Still, the fans will probably like this as it differs not that much from what has come before.
