Swedes of Transport League has had a bit of a rough journey, disbanding a rebanding, being another band and what have you. The experienced members of this band has done a lot and I have enjoyed them as Massive Audio Nerve or M.A.N. and some other stuff as well. This is the fifth album as Transport League and it was originally released on own label a year ago but is now arriving on a larger scale through label Metalville. The album has one bonus track in this release and other than that seems to be the same album that was released last year. Not the most attractive cover I have seen but it sort of describes the album.

It is boogie metal, good energy and drive, lots of power with plenty of catchiness and a vocalist that is rough on the border of growling. It is a vocal style that suits the gritty style of this album very well. A dozen tracks with a decent enough playing time and variation, and a quality production. I have not heard Transport League before but comparing it Massive Audio Nerve which has their members I would say that it is a whole lot less elaborate, built on a simple recipe with straighter songs and all of that.

It is a good album and I like it. The songs are strong and the performance as well as production holds a high quality, it is easy to hear that these guys know what they are doing. They keep it simple, straightforward but not so easy that it becomes instantly boring. I think they do a very good job on all accounts. The one gripe I have is that the majority of the songs don’t really fly, they are decent enough but nothing that stand out. It makes it a good album as a background and maybe slightly less good for actively listening to. There are some great hit songs though so all is not background noise, some of it is excellent as well but not enough to lift this album to the highest levels. But sure t is good enough to enjoy for a while.

I think the opening track Swing Satanic Swing is great, they should have done it more like that or more like Barabbas Venomous which is the highlight of the album. These two are real hits and lifts this album a bit but not enough to reach above the mid-rating on my part. Fans of the band or this kind of music probably see it somewhat differently and I can recommend the album for those of you who are fans. Well, I can recommend checking it out, because you might just find out that you like it.
