These Danes give you a spinning kick in the plums, at least that is what they are aiming for. But don’t count on anything as their third title is Count on Nothing which is a title not promising anything so that kick might just be somewhere not even near the pelvic region. It seems they are dividing a bleeding and burning world that is not Earth, it it is Earth on the cover they need to address their drawing skills a bit. But what about Spinkick? As far as I can tell, this is their third album which was released a while back. The band themselves was formed in 2006 and rejects to be labeled as anything but hardcore, a worrying sign for someone not a fan of hardcore, like myself.

Kept brutal and raw where you can feel the aggression in the output, a sure way to leave the pit still dancing in violence. Sounds terrifying, or brilliant if you are a fan of the genre. And a fan os sales pitches. No doubt it is hardcore, it has the dreadful vocals of that genre. It is also aggressive, a bit brutal, quite raw, unpolished, energetic, yet a touch melodic and with some infusions from the metal genre giving a bit more depth than your everyday hardcore band. Good production for the genre, the balance is great. The variation is not the biggest, it is hardcore and therefore it can be said to be fairly big as most hardcore albums sounds like one wall of noise and then they end. This is not like that. It think it is a very solid production and I am thinking that I haven’t heard a better hardcore production than this, ever.

That however does not mean that it is good, hardcore is one of the dullest genres I know and most albums makes me vomit just by looking at the cover artwork and song titles. This is much better than that, the fact is that I like this album (I wonder if that is a good thing for a hardcore band’s point of view) and if it wasn’t for the vocals I would for the first time award a hardcore album a score on the top end of our scale. The vocals however forces me to settle for the middle score which still is good for the genre. It is not often I come across hardcore that is listenable, so a salute for these guys is in place, I have listened to this album many times and not once have I vomited. To be honest I have never even been close, this is good music and Spinkick deliver a good kick in the balls.

The second track called Stronger is the strongest on the album and stands stronger than the other tracks. It is a short album as well being only 26 minutes and eight tracks where I also think the third track stands out somewhat. A good listen, and amongst the best I have heard in the hardcore genre, too bad it is a quite poor genre as it would have been a lot better had it been said about anything in another genre. In the end I think I can conclude that it might be worth it to take a look at this album.
