Some corpses never decay, is it the corpses they have dug up to complete this compilation of demo tracks and things like that by a Swedish band no one has ever heard of. They shared some members with the band Treblinka, later Tiamat who are a bit more known to man. The guys at Vic Records probably doesn’t like me much since I usually tend not to like their stuff, but then again most of what they release should have stayed buried, that is in my humble opinion. Of course, I never judge anything before giving it a chance, as I have done with this record just as every other record I have reviewed. So what about it? has it decayed or not.

Well, it is recorded in a murky basement somewhere near the Swedish capital, perhaps in some sunken boat somewhere in the waters just outside. The sound is murky, it sounds dated, old-school death metal is what it is. Quite raw in that it sounds unfinished. Not particularly heavy, as this kind of music never is. There is hardly any variation as the songs sound more or less the same from start to finish and that is despite the fact that the songs come from different demo releases. With more than an hour of playing time I think that some listeners will start to loose interest after a while. Did I mention that it sounds dated? and that the singer sound very drab? If I didn’t, that is how I see it.

I know I do not really match the target audience of this album, we don’t have any writers that do. But I do know that I don’t like this album, I haven’t even managed to play through it in its entirety even once as I grow so bored after a while that I just cannot bare to endure it any longer. It is not an impressive product, at least not to me and my tastes in music. Certain corpses never decay they say, this one has been decaying for a long time now. For me it would have been best left buried. Then I am not one of their targeted audience so for all of you who likes it less polished, less produced, less sophisticated, for you it might just be one album that could appeal. But how could I be able to judge that, it is hard to be objective about something you think sound like crap. Something that has been decaying for so long that the worms are crawling from the eyes and ears of the band, the guitars and basses have rotted to nothingness. This band would probably have been best left to decay.

I was trying to find something positive to say about the album but I have nothing. There aren’t any good songs, any good ideas, not even the thrash blendings that could have spiced it up. It is a monotonous and quite boring collection of songs that goes on forever, or until you decide to give up and let go. I hate it, some may love it but most of you will agree with me.

HHHHHHH
