Stylewise it is the same gothic female fronted metal as before, a bit more heavy yet very melodic and lyrical/epic. The female vocalist is very strong, maybe their are not so very unique, their style is akin towards Stream of Passion’s musical style without feeling like a copy. Somewhat progressive, very melodic and quite grande in stature. Excellent production, the sound is as good as anything in the genre and the variation is definitely good enough to last for the almost 55 minutes that the album plays for. Is is a tad shorter if you discount the bonus track.
A very strong album, no weaknesses and a very interesting feel to it. The variation is good and the album has depth which makes it last for at least a fairly long time of repeated listening. Sure, if you want to nitpick you could say that they haven’t really evolved that much from the debut and that their musical style might not be the most unique. Still, that is a bit of nitpicking as they do not really sound like everything else in a very crowded genre, sure they do not quite stand out enough to really shine either. But it is a very, very solid and good album that I can recommend as it will be worth the time you spend listening to it because of its great songs and wonderful atmosphere.
I think that the opening pair of songs along with the seventh track Tears of Medusa are the top tracks of this album but as their is no real weakness I would say that nothing really stand out too much but the mentioned tracks are the most memorable. I like this album, I think you would too at least if you like female fronted metal. Evenoire seems to be slowly establishing themselves as a band to be reckoned with, Herons is a very strong album.
