Stylewise there isn’t that much of a difference between this album and their debut, it is the same style of death metal that feels a bit reminiscent of the style that was common within the ranks of death metallers in the early nineties. Not very modern. Growly vocals that are more of a guttural mumbling than aggressive shouty screamy vocals that are more common in the melodic side of things, they have a for the genre rather common way of expressing themselves. Nothing unique comes from these guys, it is produced as it can be expected to be to conform within the genre. It is well made for what it is, short and to the point, it is a rather predictable album that seems aimed at an audience that is already sold on this kind of music.
Sure they use a sense of humour to their music so it is at least not as serious as the genre usually is which is refreshing, but at the same time it is not silly enough to be entertaining for that reason. As with the earlier album, I have a problem seeing a point with it. I can’t see what it offers that we haven’t already heard and to be honest, don’t we seek new music to hear something that we haven’t heard before? I know I do, sure it can be familiar and within the same genre but blasé and unimaginative albums that sounds the same as anything else but with a new name isn’t that fantastic. And to be honest, that is what this album is. Sure it has a better cover artwork than the one they released before but in the most important areas the album is not different from the debut that isn’t different from anything else we’ve already heard.
So, it is not that exciting and not that interesting. If you like your death metal as it was twenty years ago then you might find this entertaining and the same goes if you share a sense of humour with the band. For me, there are just so many better options out there in the musical world so I would not ever pick this up to play voluntarily, it is not even close to that good.
