Standardised rock music, hardrock it can even be called. Rock’n’roll is what it is all about, straightforward and uncomplicated music with straightforward choruses and melodies. Strong riffs and a dirty somewhat electric sound. A well produced album with a sound as a straightforward rock album should have, it is an impressive production I have to say. Maybe their best one yet, the songs though are still the usual standard rock’n’roll selection and has nothing new or different to present. But of course they are not really selling themselves as musical innovators, they proudly state that they did everything fast, they say it was composed in just two months. It sounds just about right as the album is being quite spontaneous, and not overworked like many modern albums sound.
This album is just under fifty minutes if you get the CD version with a pair of bonus tracks, it fourteen track which as I stated in the previous paragraph has the usual variation of a rock album. Nothing new or exciting in terms of creativity here but we do have a solid album, no real weaknesses but no real strengths either. I think that fans of the band will be pleased with this album, it is like their previous albums and I think that it does not really offer anything we haven’t heard before. If you were hoping to hear new stuff, something that surprise of excite, you will be disappointed as this is not it. This is the band for those who want to get what they expect from a new album not for those who wants their bands to evolve noticeable for each release.
So, we get an album like most other Sideburn albums, maybe slightly better sound than usual but not something that really electrifies or excites. To me it feels like any other Sideburn album, to a Sideburn fan it is probably wonderful. It is a solid release showing off a gang of rockers who will probably thrill and excite their fans on the stages. To me it is a fairly good album, no more and no less than that.
