So, what kind of code is that september code? Possibly a greek one I suppose as the band is Greek and their second album called Remember Mirrors comes quite a while after the debut which was released in 2006 so it has been a long wait for the fan of the band. I don’t know the band, this is my first ever encounter with them so and it is one with a band that has a pretty neat album cover that looks the same if you look at it upside down. I think it would have been cool had the cover looked the same from all four sides but it doesn’t which is too bad but not really anything that effects the album itself.

It is progressive rock with a bit of an atmospheric angle, quite slow in tempo most of the time and it is fairly varied over the fourteen tracks this album consists of. The production is quite alright with a nice soundscape, not very heavy but mainly focused on the atmosphere which seems somewhat drawn towards the melancholic side of things maybe it is a bit of a dark mood spreading or something like that. The album is long with its almost one hour playing time and it feels long when listening to it as well, the variation just isn’t enough to keep it interesting for the entire way in. Not overly complex is it, the songs are built in simple structures and phrases making it fairly easy to take in so it is progressive rock of the simplistic kind I guess we could describe it as.

I think that it is a fairly good album but as I stated before it is a tad on the long side which makes it less good than it could have been. The tracks are quite monotone seen in the bigger picture but the overall impression is still positive, just. There are highlights however, the first track Humanize is quite good and sets a good tone but it is not really kept through the album other than in the title track which I really like. That one is a really good track that is fascinating and also exciting, too bad the rest of the album isn’t really up to the standard of said track or even the opening track. There is potential here but it isn’t quite fulfilled which is a shame but fortunately you could keep the best and throw away the rest nowadays but still it is an album of lost potential I would say.

In the end this is an okay album that could have been better, but if you like dreary progressive rock/metal like for instance Pain of Salvation or Andromeda then you’ll probably find this album quite fascinating as well but anyone else will probably just find it okay. So a decent album but a bit long and a bit boring but with a pair of really fine hit songs just to keep you entertained while waiting for the end.

HHHHHHH
