Horrorpunk, is how this music is described around the web. That isn’t a bad description, some horror and some evil shines through. It is definitely a cheaply produced album, it has a cheap sound and the singer isn’t particularly good. The entire album sounds raw or dirty, I think that is made on purpose. The songs are not particularly varied, but it still works alright due to the short playing time of the album. I think it sounds as though these guys know what they are doing, maybe it is also in line with the spirit of the genre. Simplicity, that’s what it is all about.
Good, this album is good. I like it, not so much to have in the car but still a fine album. Sure, I have also heard better but they do sound like they know what they are doing and their music is full of energy and power, in an exciting raw kind of way. A lot to like here. The best songs are the Undead Nazi Bastard, Killing Machine and Night of the Butterfly Knives which are quite memorable. If you like punkrock or horrorpunk I have no doubt that you will find this quite interesting.
I think that in the end we can conclude that this is a strong album, good songs and it is short and to the point. Impressive, yet it sounds so cheap and so amateurish. I think they produced it just right for this album. I agree it never blows me away and I think it only deserves a rating in the middle of the scale but for those of you who like punk, especially punk with a more creative touch. This all means that the Scarecrow probably won’t scare away all potential customers, and that is a good thing.
